Makoto Itabashi (b. 1980, Miyagi) began his music career in 2001, providing compositions for a wide range of media including painting, photography, and film. His work is rooted in interdisciplinary collaborations that transcend conventional boundaries.

In 2018, Down Escalation, a film for which he composed the music, received the Jury Award for Creative Achievement at the 27th Arizona International Film Festival. In 2023, Our Pain won the Sound Design Award at the Paris International Animation Film Festival, further cementing his reputation on the international stage.

In recent years, he has focused on collaborations with experimental filmmakers and contemporary artists, pursuing a unique musical expression that bridges the realms of the visual and the auditory. His sound—imbued with stillness and spaciousness—brings a profound sense of depth and resonance to the works it accompanies.
